In a surprising twist for many of us East Coasters, Alaska has frequent award flight availability. One May, I received a text asking how many Delta miles I had — three days later, I was in Alaska for a long weekend. While a trip like this barely scratches the surface of this fantastic state, it is more accessible than one may think.

Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is a city steeped in history and renowned for its architectural beauty. Its historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, boasts landmarks like the Prague Castle, Old Town Square and the iconic Charles Bridge. Today, Prague continues to captivate visitors with its vibrant atmosphere, charming streets and vibrant café culture.

I traveled to Aruba in May 2024 for a work program and was fortunate enough to stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba. This beachfront property feels intimate and secluded despite being on "the strip." With six on-property restaurants, two pools and plenty of swimmable beachfront, there isn't a reason to leave; however, the hotel's prime location also allows for a lovely stroll along the beach to explore other bars and restaurants.

I traveled to Berlin, Germany, in August of 2024 for a work program and was fortunate enough to stay at the JW Marriott Hotel Berlin. This city-center property is situated on a quiet street with easy access to Tiergarten Park and Potsdamer Platz. From starting the day with an expansive breakfast buffet to enjoying the rarity of a European city hotel pool to the friendly staff, I immensely enjoyed my stay at this property.

Cheese, chocolate, bikes and boats, oh my! A city that needs no introduction, Amsterdam offers all you could want and more. Every corner of the city tells a story, from the iconic canals lined with picturesque houses to the world-class museums showcasing masterpieces by Rembrandt and Van Gogh. Whether indulging in delectable Dutch cuisine, cycling along the scenic streets, or immersing yourself in the lively atmosphere of Dam Square, Amsterdam offers an unforgettable blend of charm and excitement for every traveler.

Bruges is a quaint but bustling medieval town in northern Belgium. Take a step back in time as you stroll along the city's canals, admiring the stunning architecture of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Its smaller size makes it the perfect weekend trip during an extended European adventure.

Go from the desert to fresh powder in just 30 minutes! While relatively uncrowded, this mountain has over 3,000 feet of vertical and abundantly expert terrain. The base lodge has a quaint but vibrant scene with local shops, tasty bites and a chic on-mountain hotel. Not to mention, Taos is the first certified B-Corp ski resort in the world. Their focus on sustainability and supporting the local community creates a ski trip unlike any other.

Running (or skating) the Berlin Marathon is a major accomplishment! Celebrate post-race by experiencing a festival unlike any other: Oktoberfest. Take in the history of Berlin while prepping for race day, then relax post-race as you travel to Munich. Once there, replenish your calories at Oktoberfest. Take some time to explore the beautiful Bavarian region and, of course, visit the castle that inspired Disney's iconic castle.

Ski atop a dormant volcano at Mount Bachelor, Oregon! This ski resort is located entirely in Deschutes National Forest, so while you won't find a glitzy resort town or on-mountain lodging, you will never get bored skiing at the seventh largest resort in North America.

Known for being Napa's more casual sister, Sonoma is the perfect location for a wine-filled girls' getaway. Whether you're brunching, enjoying the spa or lounging by the pool, there is something here for everyone in the group. And, of course, the wine is some of the best in America.

Known as the home of Mozart, this music-focused city is a stunning must-see. Explore the hill-top castle, be wowed by a professional marionette show and sing "The Hills are Alive" while taking in the astonishing views of the Alps. You are guaranteed to leave this city with your belly happy, your lungs full of fresh mountain air and a greater appreciation of classical music.

Known for being a small but wealthy country, Luxembourg is a popular day destination spot. While I also only had a day to explore, I wish I had spent a long weekend exploring all this country has to offer.
